Ellen L. Shumber's Obituary
Ellen L. Shumber, age 82, formerly of Dravosburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of family. Ellen was born on January 22, 1942, daughter of the late William and Vivian (Barkman) Armstrong.
She is survived by her brother, William Armstrong; her nieces, Niki (Tony) Schiffbauer, whom she raised like a daughter, and Natalie Sanner; and her great-nephew and niece, James and Noura Schiffbauer, whom she adored. Ellen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony R. Shumber.
Ellen enjoyed a long career in management and had many fond memories of her time at G.C. Murphy company. She was a dedicated volunteer for 30 years at Jefferson Hospital. In her free time, Ellen enjoyed feeding the birds, butterflies, and chipmunks, and was an avid gardener. She loved hearing from James and Noura and cherished the time she spent with them.
Services and burial have been entrusted to Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in honor of Ellen may be made to the Veteran's organization or humane society of the donor's choice.
