Eileen's Obituary
Eileen Rose Hudson, 77, of Pittsburgh PA, passed away on February 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Eileen was a loving mother to her three children; Jennifer (Matt) Colaizzi, David (Pamm) Hudson and William (Cindy) Hudson; cherished grandmother to David Jr. (Danielle), Lindsay (Ben), Kaylee(Skylar), Benny, Zak, Peyton, Vinnie, and Elissa; great-grandmother to Skylar; mother-in-law to Chris Long; sister to Dianne (Rodney) Burkhart-Hancher and August (Chris) Burkhart. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband William Hudson; her daughter Terry Long; and her parents August and Mildred Burkhart and her brother Ronald Burkhart.
Eileen attended church at St. Germaine Church, Our Lady of Hope Parish. She would pray the rosary daily and even participated in the St Bridget's Prayer (a 12-year long petition for your loved ones). She was also an active member of the Christ Life Group and loved attending the Christian Mothers events.
Eileen had a nurturing instinct that infused her everyday life. It made her a loving and attentive grandmother, a role that she held above all others. It also gave her an expert green thumb, growing a home full of greenery and a well landscaped property, teeming with flowers (especially roses) and green grass. When she wasn't cleaning and caring for her own home, she was self-employed diligently caring for the homes of others as a housekeeper for many years.
She had many ways of expressing her creativity. Most notably she enjoyed ceramics. In her home and the home of her friends and family you will find examples of handmade pottery with her signature on the bottom. Her signature and writing were an artform, full of gentle strokes and carefully crafted loops. It may take a while for her to write a letter, but it is guaranteed to be worth the wait. She also excelled in the kitchen, and had a love of baking, especially her apple crisp and her legendary spaghetti sauce.
From her wardrobe to her bumper stickers, Eileen wanted everything to sparkle. Her "bling" reflected her glittering personality. She always found ways to make people smile. You could mention needing something in casual conversation, and she would provide you with it. She was always there to offer a kind word of encouragement. It comes as no surprise that she would be involved in several fun-loving groups such as her Poker group the Get Along Gang and multiple bowling leagues. She treasured conversations with her beloved cousins, especially at game day get togethers or dinners out.
A private family viewing will be held beginning at 10:00am at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd. Pittsburgh PA 15236.
All are welcome to a mass of Christian Burial Thursday February 5, 2026 at 12:00 at St Germaine Church, 7003 Baptist Rd, Bethel Park, PA 15102.
