Mrs. Eileen L Chrzastek's Obituary
Eileen L. Chrzastek, 83, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in Pittsburgh, PA.
Eileen (Lewandowski) Chrzastek was born on August 9, 1942 in Hamtramck, MI, to Zigmund Lewandowski and Modesta Jasinski.
Eileen married William Chrzastek on October 24, 1964 in St. Albert The Great in Brentwood, PA. The couple had 3 daughters, Betsy Squires of Jefferson Hills, Christine Keyes of Caledon, Ontario, Canada, and Jennifer Connolly of Chicago.
Eileen is survived by Betsy Squires (James), Christine Keyes (David), Jennifer Connolly (Keith); grandchildren Ryan Keyes, Tyler Keyes,William Connolly, Katherine Connolly, Evaline Connolly; great-grandson Easton Keyes.
Eileen is preceded in death by her husband William Chrzastek, mother Modesta Lewandowski, and brother James Lewandowski.
At Brentwood High School, she interviewed then Senator John F. Kennedy, Jr. for the school newspaper. After graduation, she joined the secretarial pool at U.S. Steel. Eileen was very proud of her educational achievements. She went back to college after having children starting at Bucks County Community College, then earning her bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a master's in business administration from Duquesne University--all while raising a family and then working at Consol Coal Company as an accountant.
She and her husband Bill lived in South Park Township for nearly 40 years and had fond memories of their home, the park area, and enjoyed attending outdoor summer concerts.
In retirement, she and Bill enjoyed traveling and aimed to visit all fifty states. They had adventures to Lake Louise in Banff, Canada; followed the Lewis & Clark trail to the Pacific Northwest; sailed the Arctic seas on an Alaskan cruise; explored Native American dwellings in the Southwest; and visited Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
Above all, Eileen's proudest accomplishment was raising three independent and self-sufficient daughters. Much to her chagrin, Eileen watched this goal become reality with Betsy getting her first job and first apartment at nearly the same time, Christine marrying and moving to Toronto, Canada, and Jennifer attending graduate school and staying in Chicago.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. Please use the enterance across from the Curry Hollow Center. A Blessing service will immediately follow visitation at 2:00 pm in the funeral home's chapel.
