Edward L. Stasko's Obituary
Edward L. Stasko, age 97, of Carnegie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of family. Ed was born on December 2, 1927, in Mt. Oliver, the son of the late Michael and Amelia Stasko.
Ed was a graduate of Brentwood High School. Following his graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Throughout his service he was stationed in Japan where he was an FM Tech. Ed enjoyed a long career as a supervisor with J & L Steel Mill at the hot strip mill on 2nd Avenue.
In his early years, Ed was a very talented baseball player. An avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, he tried out for the team in the 1940's as a short stop. He was also a member of the Yankee's Farm Club. He was always up for enjoying a round of golf, playing into his 90's, and participated in an adult softball league. Ed also loved to travel with his beloved wife and family.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Eva (Miller) Stasko; his children, Deborah (Fred) Brinton and Wayne (Michelle) Stasko; his five grandchildren, Adam, Michael (Sammi), Timothy, Sydney, and Joey; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Stasko and brothers, Albert and Walter Stasko.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service in honor of Edward will be held in the chapel at the funeral home at 12:30 pm on Friday, June 13, 2025. Burial will be held privately.
