Edward J. Manns' Obituary
Edward J. Manns, 84, of West Mifflin, passed away on September 30, 2021.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann (Jacko), of 57 years; son, Edward M. (Samantha) Manns; daughter, Sheri (Steve) Micklo; and grandchildren, Amanda, Courtney, Julia, Natalie, and Ashleigh.
Ed was the oldest of eight children, including James, the late Robert, Beverley Laird, Lewis, Paul, the late Patricia Mroz, and Ralph. He is also survived by brother-in-law Joseph (Shirley) Jacko. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward C. and Catherine Manns.
Ed worked for US Steel for 31 years in the Homestead Works as an NDT sonic technician and served his country in the United States Army in the Far East. He played competitive interleague baseball as a champion left-handed pitcher in the Army and was also well-known in local leagues.
Keeping busy in his retired years, Ed enjoyed golfing, hunting, gambling, spending winters in Florida, numerous fantasy sports leagues, and watching sports of all kinds. Above all, he loved being with his family.
A private ceremony will be held next week, followed by a mass and celebration of his life later this year.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
