Edward Vincent Kollar's Obituary
Edward V. Kollar, 86, of Jefferson Hills, PA. passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on May 27, 2025. Born September 25, 1938 in Glassport, PA to the late John and Johanna Kollar.
Ed was the beloved husband of Marion Kollar, with whom he shared over forty-nine years of cherished marriage. Ed's legacy will continue through his daughter, Ann Marie Kollar and her spouse, Daniel Hall, as well as his grandson, Nicolas Corrado the son of Joseph Corrado, who added immense joy to his life.
Ed's life was shared with a large and caring family, including his siblings Rita Milcic and Anna Mae Corriga, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed now joins his late parents, John and Johanna Kollar, his daughter Christina Corrado, and his siblings Teresa, Mildred, Bertha Kunz, Irene Kaczka, Liz, Mary F., George Kollar, John Kollar, Larry Kollar, and Joseph Kollar, who have preceded him in death.
A proud graduate of Duquesne University, Ed's pursuit of knowledge was a lifelong endeavor, which he applied with great success throughout his career. His disciplined work ethic was evident during his service in the Army and continued as he excelled as a business manager. Ed's leadership skills were matched only by his relationship building focus, making him both a respected colleague and a mentor to many.
Ed was never one to sit idle; his hands were often busy tending his garden, crafting in his woodwork shop, or caring for his cherished cabin in the Laurel Highlands, a retreat that brought him and his family countless days of contentment. Locomotives, particularly steam trains, fascinated him, and he could often be found engrossed in their history and mechanics.
His personality was as bright as it was warm; Ed was the life of any gathering, with a natural ability to captivate an audience with his storytelling and humor. A philosopher in both academics and life, Ed had a talent for turning the ordinary into the profound, inspiring those around him to contemplate life's greater purpose.
Ed's departure leaves a space that cannot be filled but he will always occupy a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. His quick smile, profound insights, and the memories of his joyful presence will endure as a treasure to all who had the pleasure of his company.
