Edward P. Dora's Obituary
Edward P. Dora, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on June 14, 1932, in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, Edward was a man of integrity, warmth, and dedication, whose life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family and his country.
Edward's early life in Elizabeth laid a strong foundation for the values he would carry throughout his life. He was the beloved son of the late John and Mary Dora and was the youngest of seven siblings: John, Joseph, Michael, William, George, and Helen, all of whom predeceased him. His formative years were filled with the love and camaraderie of a large family, which would later be reflected in his own.
After bravely serving in the US Army during the Korean War, Edward returned home and embarked on a distinguished career as a combustion engineer, a role he dedicated himself to for over 30 years. His work ethic and expertise were widely respected by his colleagues and those within the industry.
Edward's heart found its truest joy in his family life. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 53 years, Nancy J. Dora, and a loving father to his daughters, Denise Dora and Terri Lynn Klinger. His family circle expanded with the addition of his niece, Stacy Reynolds Raynon, and nephew, Bob Reynolds and his great nieces, Eleanor and Emma. Edward's legacy continued to grow with his grandchildren, Jim Dora, Ray Klinger, and Jennifer Kelsay, and he was blessed to see the family tree flourish with his great-grandchildren, Donovan Kelly-Dora, Rowan Kelly-Dora, Shannon Kelly-Dora, Cameron Kelly-Dora, Aerrik Hovdon, Evallyn Hovdon, Sabrina Hovdon, Daykotah Ramos, and Samantha Kelsay. The joy of his later years was further multiplied with the arrival of his great-great-grandchild, Ascari Hovden.
Beyond his family and work, Edward had a passion for the outdoors. He was an avid golfer, a skilled hunter, and had a green thumb that could make any garden bloom. His interests were a testament to his love for nature and the simple pleasures of life.
Those who knew Edward will remember him as a man with a heart of gold. He was fiercely protective of those he loved, always ready to offer support or a helping hand. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of love and compassion.
