Edna A. McCann's Obituary
Edna Vecchio McCann, age 90, of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 10, 2023. Edna was born on October 12, 1932, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Sam and Edna (Mutschler) Vecchio.
Edna was the cherished wife of 44 years to Edward McCann; the loving mother of Judy (Mark) Collins; the grandmother of Michael (Chelby) and Breanna Collins; and great-grandmother of Lucy and Leo. Enda also leaves her sisters, Leona George, Joan Smith and Janet Wilson; her brother, Samuel Vecchio and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Edna, as she was known to many, loved to always be around people. She was the life of the party with a way of making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. She continued to have her sense of humor up until the day before she passed, joking with her daughter and nurse.
Edna was the heart of her daughter’s dance studio acting as a surrogate grandmother to all the students and friendly conversationalist to their moms. Edna, along with her husband, Ed, volunteered at the Salvation Army in Carnegie for over 23 years. She enjoyed helping people.
However, what brought Ms. Edna the most joy in her life was her family and friends. She loved throwing parties and being around everyone she loved. Edna and her daughter, Judy, were inseparable. She just adored her grandchildren, Michael and Breanna, and would light up when her great grandchildren, Lucy and Leo, would enter the room. She will be deeply missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 10:30 am, at St. Albert the Great Church, 3198 Schieck St, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.
