Edith Jane Lytle's Obituary
Edith Jane Lytle entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2024 at age 96. She was born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania on December 2, 1927 to Edwin W. and Marion (Lott) Underwood. She was a longtime resident of Pleasant Hills.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Preston D. Lytle in 2013 after a sixty six year marriage and by her sister, Marian (Bunnie) Mizik.
She is survived by her children, Elaine (James) Mead, Patricia (Wayne) Samuelson, Leslie Lytle, Preston (Pam) Lytle, grandchildren, Anita, Laura, Stephanie, Emily, Daniel, David, Kelly, Kathryn, ten great grandchildren, brother Albert Underwood and nieces and nephews.
Edie was first and foremost a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved children and even at an advanced age her eyes would light up and she would reach out to hold her great grandchildren when they visited. She was an avid reader of history, a wonderful cook, a proud Pittsburgher and a patriotic American. Her grandchildren especially enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwiches she would make for them while on yearly summer vacations in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Country Meadows, Mechanicsburg and Lifesong Hospice for all the care and kindness they showed her in the last years of her life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 11:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA 15236.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Country Meadows Co-Worker Foundation, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, Pa 17033 or The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, 1 N. Linden Street, Duquesne, Pa 15110.
