Dorothy M. Hurl's Obituary
Dorothy 'Dot' M. Hurl, 98, of Jefferson Hills passed away October 24, 2022.
Dorothy was the wife of the late Franklin G. Hurl.
She is survived by her daughters Kathy Hurl, Jane (Bill) Weaver and Cynthia (Pete) Garcia; grandchildren Grant (Natalie) Weaver and Jillian Weaver.
Preceded in death by her parents, J. Adam and Margaret Angerer; husband of 50 years, Franklin; and sisters, Catherine Buchanan, Mildred Coen, Anna Brautigam, Hazel Angerer and Edna Brautigam.
Dorothy graduated from Cecil Township High School in 1943. She then went on to Canonsburg General Hospital Nursing School where she graduated in 1946. Dorothy worked at West Penn Hospital prior to her marriage to Franklin in 1950. She also worked part time as a nurse at Jefferson Hills Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed reading, baking, knitting, walking and attending church (where she was known as the Cookie Lady). Dorothy was very generous, kind, a natural care giver and had a great sense of humor. She was known for her strong will and her determination.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, where services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 29th. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park in Pittsburgh, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Dorothy's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., Pittsburgh Chapter, 2835 E. Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
