Dorothy "Dot" Hoffman's Obituary
Dorothy "Dot" Hoffman, aged 87, of Dormont, PA passed away at home May 11th after a long struggle with cancer. She was born in Homestead, PA to parents John and Anna (Sovostenka) Zavodnick. In 1993 she married her beloved husband Fred in Las Vegas, who preceded her in death.
Dorothy had a generous spirit and could always be counted on to support her friends and family. She loved hosting parties and took great pleasure in their preparation. Dorothy enjoyed attending Red Hats Society meetings and was an active member of the Sjogren’s Support Group.
Dorothy frequently cruised with her friends in the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and Alaska. She also enjoyed many trips to Niagara Falls. Some other favorite travel adventures took her to Punta Cana, Ireland, and Texas.
She is survived by brothers John and Marty Zavodnick and sister Teresa Graue. Also, nieces Laura Nagy (Jim), Judy Stark (Larry), Lisa Stathopoulos (David), and Michelle Mendenhall (Fred) and nephew John Zavodnick. And many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy's name to Sjogren's Foundation, 10701 Parkridge Blvd., Suite 170, Reston, VA 20191. At Dorothy’s request, there will be no viewing. There will be a private graveside ceremony at Jefferson Memorial Park. Services and arrangements taken care of by Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236.
