Dorothy C. Evans' Obituary
Dorothy C. Evans, 95, of Pleasant Hills, passed away on March 31, 2022.
She was born on September 23, 1926 in Oakland to parents, the late Harry and Mary Clark.
Dorothy lived in the East End then moved to the Spring Garden area where she lived for most of her life. Her name came from her favorite movie character Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. She attended Allegheny High School and graduated in 1945. She married her late husband John in 1949. After graduation, she worked various jobs, her favorite was a being a waitress at Summit Inn Hotel at the top of Uniontown Mountain. Then she worked at Bell Telephone Company until the middle 50's. After John's retirement the couple traveled to California and Hawaii. Dorothy visited her sister, Ruth up until the pandemic hit. She loved cooking, her church family, and animals, especially cats and deer.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jody Evans Rozman and her husband, Joseph Rozman, and her sister, Ruth Clark.
Dorothy is survived by her son, John M. Evans, her brothers, Harry (Marty) Clark and John (Karen) Clark, her nephew, Ronnie (Jerry) Evans, and niece, Linda Evans.
Friends will be received Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home's chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Hills Library and Arboretum, 302 Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
