Donna Jean Merrill Hallberg Meyer, 94 entered the presence of The Lord on August 6, 2022
Donna was born in Carsonville Michigan, June 8, 1928 to Vern Everett and Martha Mae Paling Merrill. She was the youngest of 4 children. Vernice Hill, and Gordon Merrill who were predeceased. A baby died with no name.
Donna leaves behind her husband, David R. Meyer; Daughter, Cindy (Steve) Horvath; Son, Ted
(Evelyn) Hallberg; and Daughter Lowenda Hallberg; Stepson Danny (Lori) Meyer and Step Daughter
Debby Agostino. Grandchildren: Andrew (Julie) Hallberg, Daniel (Kelly) Hallberg, Kristy Lyn Smith (Bob), Kayleigh Grego, Zachary Meyer, and Cody (Lauren) Meyer. She was a Great grandmother and Great great grandmother to several children. Donna was very loved by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great--great nieces and nephews.
Donna married Clarence Theodore Hallberg in 1951 and resided in Pittsburgh PA. Donna studied Christian Education at Fort Wayne Bible School, Fort Wayne IN. She eventually moved to Pittsburgh PA to work as a Practical Nurse at the Zoar Home and the Congregational home. Both were homes for unwed mothers. She also worked at the Baptist Homes and St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh PA as a nursing assistant. She was an active member, until recently, of South Hills Church of the Nazarene, Bethel Park PA, for 50 years.
The family is very grateful for the care received by the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living, Washington PA as well as Gateway Hospice.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 2- 4pm and 7-9pm, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
A Chapel Service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 10:00AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
