Donald H. Wilkinson's Obituary
Age 89, of Bethel Park, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 27, 2019.
Donald is survived by his beloved Wife of 59 years, Barbara (Stilley) Wilkinson. Loving Father of Lori (John) Yanosich, John (Dayna) Wilkinson and Dayna (FM) Cosgrove. Cherished Grandpa, Pappy, and Grampy of Eric, Grace, Morgan, Delaney, Cameron, Allison, Erika, Trusson, and Loclyn. Donald is also survived by one nephew, four nieces and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, John and Marie Wilkinson; Sisters, Margerite Wilkinson and Marion Derby.
Donald was a life long teacher who taught both in private schools and the public sector. Donald had served a majority of his professional teaching career at Baldwin Whitehall School District. Donald was very proud to teach for 38 years. During his professional career, his goal was to put the needs of children first. Working multiple jobs at one time to enhance the lives of others while also providing for his family. Some of his jobs included Western Penitentiary helping inmates earn their GED's, during the summer breaks he would work as a recreation counselor, where he met his future wife, Barbara. A true family man, devout husband, caring father, proud grandfather, and above all zealous dog lover.
Don loved to travel with his beloved wife and take summer vacations with his family. He loved his "fun cars", books and reading, Pittsburgh sports teams but most of all his family. Forever in their hearts he will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 2 to 8 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A Blessing Service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 12 pm in the Funeral Home's Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Don's memory to the Washington Area Humane Society, 1527 Route 136, Eighty Four PA, 15330, or to a local animal shelter.
