Dionisio Roberto Thomas' Obituary
Dionisio Roberto Thomas Creed, was affectionately known to family and friends as “Bobby.” Bobby transitioned on May 25, 2021. He was 50 years old. Bobby was born at Coco Solo Hospital US Territory, in Colon Republic of Panama. He migrated to the US in 1981 to be reunited with the remaining half of his family who had previously migrated to Brooklyn. Bobby was raised by both parents, Clifford and Lentine Thomas, along with his ten brothers and sisters. Bobby was “number 11” as he referred to himself.
He began elementary school in his native Panama and continued elementary school at Brooklyn Seven Day Adventist School, middle school at Walt Whitman and Erasmus High School in Brooklyn. Bobby was a man of “Different Trades.” He was a quick learner. It was often said that if he had unlocked many of his gifts and talents, we could only wonder what discoveries he would have conquered. As he matured in life and delved into religion and his relationship with God, he converted to the Israelite faith. Bobby spoke fluent Yiddish.
He was brilliant and lighthearted. He never took himself too seriously and could make anyone laugh. Bobby always had the ability to light up any room that he was in. His bright charismatic smile and contagious laughter where hallmarks of his charming personality that will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bobby loved his family and friends. He always maintained strong bonds with his loved ones no matter how far away they were. He was known to reach out to people via video chat, calls, or texts. Bobby cared so deeply and wanted to make sure his family knew how much he cared. He always ended his conversations with outlandish stories. We were often left wondering if the story was true or maybe a tall-tale created to make you laugh. Talking to Bobby would either make you laugh until you cried or shake your head at him throughout the day. He was truly one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed. All who knew him can attest that he will never be forgotten.
He will be sadly missed by Juana “Candy” Licorish, mother to his youngest son Jeremiah, friend and common law wife up to his passing for 20 plus years, as well as by his children Charmaine, Amaretta, Jahnei, Zion, Rahmel and Jeremiah. He leaves behind a granddaughter, Zi’Arie Christie. He is survived by his brothers Jose, Clifford, Orlando, Efrain, Omar and sisters Sandra, Valeria, Amalia, Yvonnette and Nayoka his “sister/niece” as he lovingly refers to her. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Pablo, Noel, Clement and sisters-in-law Guadalupe, Angela (Angie) and Maritza. Bobby leaves behind a host of adoring nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, great-grand nephews and great-grandnieces, cousins, and friends. Gale Nash, Thank you for always being a true and unwavering friend to Bobby, the type of friend that so very closely mirrors the description of a friend in the Bible.
Bobby is predeceased by both parents Clifford H. Thomas, Lentine F. Thomas and one older brother, the late Carlos A. Thomas.
