Diane Bowen Rogers' Obituary
Diane "Dee" Rogers, born as Diane Bowen Hubert on September 8th, 1942, passed away on February 7th, 2018 at UPMC Mercy, Pittsburgh. She was diligently attended to by family after being diagnosed with lung cancer and suffering a stroke. Dee was born in Rochester, NY to Charlotte and Dawson Hubert. Dee married Richard E. Rogers, Sr. in 1963 with whom she had three children. The marriage ended in 1973. Surviving Dee are daughter Cassandra Rogers Welliver (Drew), Richard E. Rogers, Jr. (Stephanie), and Ryan Rogers (Kimberly). Dee also has 6 grandchildren- Kyle Rogers, Katelynn Rogers, Carter Welliver, Kelsey Rogers, Jacob Rogers and Weston Rogers. Dee was the sister of Richard Hubert (Sharon) along with Dawson "Taff" Hubert (Robyn). Dee was preceded in death by her parents and sister Michelle Hubert.
Dee graduated from Farmington High School in Michigan and later The University of Akron with a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Therapy. Dee was a long-time resident of Canton, Ohio, where she worked for decades for the City of Canton in a variety of positions on the Mayor's staff culminating as the Code Enforcement Supervisor. She believed strongly in the value of public service and worked her whole professional life to improve her community.
Dee was an avid gardener, loved college baseball, and the Olympics. She was especially fond of figure skating and gymnastics. For years, Dee was active in the Canton Chapter of the League of Women Voters and volunteered for political campaigns. Dee was a strong, independent woman who enjoyed hosting her friends and family for parties, boat rides, and reveling in the beauty of Myers Lake, where she lived for many years.
A memorial and celebration of Dee's life will be held in Canton,Ohio on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:30 AM at The Embassy Suites, Akron/Canton Airport. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dee's name can be made to South Hills Pet Rescue at www.southhillspetrescue.org.
