David Russell Mayer, 73, of Pittsburgh, PA. passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 26, 2022.
Dave is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy Lynne Mayer (Wiggins); his children, Jessica (Chris) Squires, Kristy (Bill) Tommaso, Kelly (Dave King) Mayer, brother & sister-in-law, Mark and Laura Wiggins, nephew, Mark Wiggins, niece, Lyndsay (Antonio Colaizzi), great nephew, Lucciano Colaizzi and many beloved family members and friends.

Dave had a true passion for life. His infectious laugh and adorable smile could light up a room. He knew the schedule for every car cruise within a 20 mile radius from home by heart. He gained his vast knowledge of cars by experience. Throughout his lifetime, he was the proud owner of over 50 classic cars. He certainly knew how to wheel and deal. His passion for the Pittsburgh Steelers was evident with the beaming smile that would appear after a touchdown or the colorful vocabulary used after an unfortunate play. He never missed watching a game. Dave's love of sports was also exemplified while coaching girls softball in Lincoln Place for over 15 years. His patience, knowledge, and positive attitude influenced many players over the years. He was friends with everyone, and his friends became his brothers. He was always the first to help a friend in need. His greatest love was family. His girls meant the world to him. He was a devoted husband and father, who put his girls above everything. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
