David Farrell Gearhart's Obituary
David Farrell Gearhart, age 64, of Finleyville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 13th, 2021.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Robin Gearhart and his two loving children, Robert (Laura) Gearhart and Elizabeth (Aaron) Johnson. Also survived by his sisters, Barbara (James) Koralewski, Christine (Robert) Kido, and sister-in-law Cathy Gearhart, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Samuel and Kathleen Gearhart, as well as his brothers, Samuel and Thomas.
He was raised in Pottstown PA then moved to Pleasant Hills PA. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1974. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, he served in various locations from Boston Massachusetts to Anchorage Alaska. David married the love of his life on May 3rd, 1986. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh as an Electrical Engineer. He worked for the Federal Government, National Institute Occupational Safety and Health, for many years as a Lead General Engineer in mining research. He had a strong sense of community service, including being a leader for his sons boyscout troop 1393, an active member of the St. Joan of Arc Appalachian Work Camp, along with being involved with fundraising events with his parish. David was an avid golfer and outdoorsman, enjoying skiing, swimming, biking, running, and camping. David loved spending time working on his wifes dream, providing her a horse farmette, he loved caring for the horses and participated in building the barn from the ground up. David was afflicted with Progressive Supra-Nuclear Palsy (PSP). Above all things he loved spending time with his family as a devoted father and husband. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be welcomed for visitation on Thursday, June 17th, 2021 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held St. Joan of Arc on Friday, June 18th, 2021 at 10:30am, everyone to meet at the funeral home at 9:45am. Military Honors to follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
