David D'Antonio's Obituary
David A. D'Antonio Age 67, of West Mifflin, PA passed away peacefully following a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. Born March 18, 1949 in McKeesport, PA to the late Anthony and Florence D'Antonio. David was raised in Glassport, PA and graduated from South Allegheny High School. He went on to Edinboro University where he earned a degree in secondary education and was a member of Sigma Alpha Nu fraternity. After graduation, he went on to teach social studies in the Pittsburgh Public Schools at Allegheny, Langley and Oliver High Schools. He was an assistant football and track& field coach during his tenure. After retiring he became a part time delivery driver for CVS Pharmacy in Pleasant Hills, PA and Upper St. Clair, PA delivering medicine to the elderly. David was an avid golfer, gardener, and reader of history, as well as a collector of model trains which he displayed every Christmas. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Angels Parish, and loved his neighbors in Mifflin Hills. David was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Pitt Panthers, and the West Mifflin Titans. He is survived by Jackie, his wife of 44 years, and sons Daniel of Lancaster, PA, Thomas (Nicole) of Jefferson Hills, PA, and Michael (Christine) of Peters Township, PA. Loving Pop-Pop to Mia, Lillian, Anna, and Luke. Cherished brother-in-law to Kathy (the late Bob) Sharples, Linda and Darryl Wittenburg, Christine and Bill Plonski as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank all of the friends, family, and neighbors who helped David along his journey. A special thanks to the staff of Dr. John Smith, Dr. Amjad Jalil, the staff at both the Jefferson Cancer Center and Infusion Floor, Mt. Vernon of South Park, Interim Homecare, and Three Rivers Hospice for their compassionate care. Visitation will be held Wednesday 7-9 pm and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10 am in Holy Angels Parish. Entombment in Jefferson memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the support the pancreatic cancer research of Dr. Christopher Wolfgang at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
