Daniel L. Bendel's Obituary
Daniel "Dan" Bendel, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2023. Born on October 15, 1947, in McKeesport, PA, Dan lived a full and vibrant life, touching many with his kindness and generosity.
Dan was a dedicated and skilled heavy equipment mechanic for 50 years at Steelmet, which later became ELG. His work ethic was an inspiration to many, and his commitment to his craft was admired by his colleagues and friends. Beyond his professional life, Dan had a deep passion for classic cars. He was a proud member of the Street Life Car Club until it disbanded, and he loved to attend car cruises with his cherished 1955 Chevy. His enthusiasm for classic cars was infectious, and he could often be found working under the hood of a car, sharing his knowledge and love for these beautiful machines with others.
Dan was a caring man who always put his family and friends first. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca Bendel, his children, Dana Bendel, and Daniel Bendel and his wife Desirae; and his grandson, Cameron. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Herouse and her husband Steve, and Nancy Polcawich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Bendel, his twin brother, Dennis Bendel, his brother George "Butch" Bendel, Eileen Celestino and her husband Daryl.
Dan's legacy of love, hard work, and generosity will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his impact will continue to be felt in the hearts of those he loved. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, the importance of family, and the joy of pursuing one's passions.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
