Dale Elmer Donovan's Obituary
Dale Elmer Donovan, 52, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Dale was born on October 16, 1970, the beloved son of John Daniel Donovan and the late, Ruth Ann (Seemiller) Donovan.
Dale proudly served our country in the US Naval Reserves. He was honorably discharged in 1998 as an ES Barge Ferry Coxswain in the Amphibious Construction Battalion. He received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Dale began his career as the Owner/Operator of Jay Dee Construction Company but enjoyed a long career as a mechanical and design engineer for existing and new products at multiple companies.
During his youth, Dale enjoyed fishing, riding dirt bikes, and reading comic books. He was very active and was involved in track, baseball, and wrestling. He became a competitive dart player as a young father. A love of board games as a child grew into a lifelong passion for board and video games and attending SeanCon was a highlight each year for him. Dale was an avid reader, but his favorite activity was any time spent with Hunter, his son from his first marriage.
Dale will be remembered by those who loved him for his kind, gentle and loving heart. Throughout his life, he befriended many who remained his friends due to his loyalty, ability to listen and wise counsel. He was a fantastic and remarkable person, who entertained with his stories. When faced with the biggest challenge of his life, Dale stayed strong and positive. He smiled through the struggle and fought passionately to spend as long as possible with those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Maya Prica (Donovan), his son, whom he was so proud of, Hunter Donovan, his father, John Donovan, siblings: Betty Mae (Kevin) Tatman, Elaine (Keith) Golebie, Kathy (Doug) Cromer, and Johnny (Karen) Donovan, and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
