Cyril Norman Buechel's Obituary
Cyril Norman Buechel, age 98, of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Baldwin and Mt. Oliver, passed away on September 26th, 2020.
Cyril is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mildred "June", his parents Joseph and Mary Buechel, and his siblings Joseph, Edward, Katherine, Armela, Herman and Raymond. He is survived by his daughter Sandra (Fred) Hayes, his two grandchildren, Randall (Gretchen) and Allison (Joe), and three great grandchildren, Reagan, Sloan and LuLu. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Cyril was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy. After the war, he returned to Crucible Steel, and later J&L Steel, as a machinist. He then continued his career as a tool and die mechanic at the Fisher Body Division of General Motors, retiring in 1985 after 35 years of service. Cy had an inventive mind and could repair or make almost anything. His passion was boating. He water skied until he was 80 years old and he enjoyed spending time at his Yough Lake cabin with his family and friends. He was a kind and gentle soul who will be sorely missed by all those who loved and knew him. Family and friends will be received Sunday, October 4th, 2020, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 5th, 2020 at Triumph of the Holy Cross (Saint Thomas A’ Becket) at 10AM. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 12:30pm following military honors. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Cyril's name to AHN Hospice (Office of Fund Development Hospice and Palliative Care
