Christina L. "Chrissy" Corrado (Kollar)'s Obituary
Corrado (Kollar)
Christina L. "Chrissy"
On April 19th, 2016, Christina (Chrissy) L. Corrado (Kollar), 38, took her final rest to become our Guardian Angel.
Cancer did not define her, it could not steal her joy.
She used all the days she had to love her husband and little boy.
Chrissy fought courageously, she never missed a beat.
She would endure the hardest of days and get right back on her feet.
It may have taken her body, but it did not take her mind.
She lived life to the fullest and taught that to those she left behind.
She has simply changed her address, to one that is in the sky,
She left us here with memories that within us, will never die.
While our hearts are filled with sadness and our eyes are filled with tears,
She's still here protecting us, where she will remain for years.
Chrissy personified sunshine. No matter how she was feeling on the inside, she made sure to live every day to the fullest, setting an amazing example for everyone with whom she came into contact. Enjoying the laughter of her son, the sun on her face, or the time with her family, Chrissy reminded all of us to stop and smell the flowers, as the here and now is what’s most important in life.
A 1995 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Chrissy went on to earn a degree in Journalism with a Minor in Business from Duquesne University in 1999. Chrissy was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority while at Duquesne. Prior to her illness Chrissy was employed by CACI in Pittsburgh as a Project Manger. Her true passion was owning and operating Chrissy Cakes, a custom bakery where she designed and created unique masterpiece Cakes and Cookies for weddings and events. She won numerous awards, and was featured in “20 Gifts Every Pittsburgher Will Love” in Pittsburgh Magazine.
Not only did Chrissy love to have her hands in a sweet confection, Chrissy also loved to take an unexpected trip to share a new experience with her husband and son. Another one of Chrissy’s passions was to make the most of her son Nicolas’ school experience. Whether it was turning his PreK building into a monster at Halloween or adding flair to the teacher cookie exchange, Chrissy shared her joy with everyone. Never one to miss a performance, you could find Chrissy front and center with a huge smile supporting Nicolas in all that he did. Everyone who met Chrissy will always remember that beautiful smile.
She is survived by her loving and supportive husband Joe and charismatic son Nicolas (6). Her parents, Edward and Marion Kollar (Pastore) of Pleasant Hills, her sister Ann Kollar of Carnegie, Tom and Joyce Carter (Pastore), her extended family Susan Corrado, Joseph Corrado, Mark and Angela (Corrado) Hoppe, Tammy Corrado, many nieces and nephews and an un-ending list of friends who were drawn to her by her infectious smile, her kind spirit, her laugh, her drive in life, and her strength and will to live life, every day, with a smile, no matter what was being thrown at her.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, April 23, and Sunday, April 24, from 2-4 & 7-9 at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 25, at the Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Finleyville, 15332. Private interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to Nicolas's education fund. Funds can be deposited at any PNC Bank in the name of the Nicolas J. Corrado Scholarship Fund.
