Chloe Adelyn Gourley's Obituary
Our heart warrior, Chloe, passed unexpectedly on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Chloe was a strong, tenacious, loving, and hope-filled light, who touched and enhanced the lives of everyone she came into contact with. A fighter from birth, Chloe, overcame what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles in her first years, with grace and an attitude to match. She was proud to be a heart warrior but refused to be defined by this unique rarity of hers. Chloe had an endless imagination which she used in her photography and in character creation. Recently, she delighted in creating a new character, "Amethyst," for Dungeons and Dragons. A fierce green dragon, Amethyst mirrored Chloe's strength and loyalty. Chloe also loved going to the beach, being involved in Girl Scouts, playing Pokémon, Jujitsu/kickboxing/Taekwondo, basketball, and swimming, just to name a few.
Chloe was filled with hope, not only for herself, but also for those around her - charming people wherever she went. She loved her parents, Joe and Diane, deeply. She is survived by her grandparents, John and Sue; her aunts, Lisa, Amy, Anne Marie, and Taryn; her uncles, Jason and Don; and her cousins, Lillian, Emma, Ashley, Brekyn, and Brylin - who will do their best to carry her sparkle forward.
The community that Chloe, Joe, and Diane have built in New York, has evolved into family and irreplaceable friendships. Chloe was a proud member of the "Superstars," The Carroll School (PS58), and the greater Carroll Gardens neighborhood. She will be missed more than can ever be imagined.
We wish to thank the Children's Hospitals in both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, along with The Children's Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center, for ensuring that our warrior had the opportunity to enjoy and accomplish so much in her too short life. We would also like to thank New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital (Columbia) for lovingly caring for her while living the city life in Brooklyn.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service in honor of Chloe will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in the chapel at the funeral home.
