Charles W. McCurdy's Obituary
Charles William McCurdy, age 97, of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in the comfort of his home while surrounded by the love of family. Born on December 1, 1928, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Barr) McCurdy.
Chuck was the beloved husband of 72 years to Carolyn (Stockdale) McCurdy; the loving father of Beth Miller and Scott McCurdy; the cherished grandfather of Shaun Miller, Deanna Jones, Steve Miller, Laurel Miller and Alec McCurdy; and the great grandfather of Gwen and Gemma Jones and Ali McCurdy, all whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Charles Scott McCurdy.
Chuck was a graduate of South Hills High School and continued his education at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture in 1953. He enjoyed a distinguished professional career spanning 45 years in the field of architecture and was widely respected as a dedicated and accomplished artisan. His design expertise was retained by the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, Mario Lemieux, the United States Postal Service, and numerous residential and commercial clients. His creativity extended well beyond his professional work. Chuck was also skilled in cross-stitching and sculpting with various materials, pursuits that reflected his lifelong passion for the arts.
A devout Christian, Chuck lived by strong values rooted in faith, hard work, and unwavering commitment to family. In his personal life, he enjoyed reading, stamp collecting, and financial management-interests he eagerly shared with others. His grandchildren frequently sought his counsel and valued his thoughtful financial guidance.
Chuck will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Services will be held privately.
