Catherine "Marion" Schlanger Haley's Obituary
Catherine “Marion” Schlanger Haley, age 99, passed away on September 22, 2020 in Denton, Maryland.
Marion was the daughter of the late John C. Schlanger and Catherine L. Craig Schlanger. Marion was married to Elmer W. (Pete) Haley from 1944 until his death in 1970. Marion was the loving mother of five children, Donna Hollis (Lynn), Diane Rowland (Lee), Patricia Zurawka Holmes (the late Russell and the late Ron), Robert (Maryanne), and Rosemary (Robert). She treasured her 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded by her brothers John (Jack) Schlanger, David William Schlanger, James Bernard Schlanger and Paul Kenneth Schlanger, and her beloved sister, Mary Ruth Parsons, as well as her granddaughter, Kelly Anne Haley.
A 1940 graduate of Swissvale High School in Pittsburgh, Marion made her home on Blossom Drive in Baldwin Township for many years before relocating to Maryland in 1999. Her Catholic faith was important to her and she was a member of St. Germaine Parish in Bethel Park, PA and St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin in Whitehall, PA. Her greatest joy was her family and she also enjoyed basketball, baking, playing cards, sewing and reading. Her loving spirit and kind heart will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 29 at 10 AM at Holy Spirit Parish, please arrive at the Funeral Home at 9 AM for final respects.
