Catherine Anna Ratay's Obituary
Catherine Anna Ratay, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at the age of 65. Born to the late Eugene and Margaret Ratay on April 4, 1959, in Whitaker, PA, Cathy dedicated over 40 years of her life to teaching within the Diocese of Pittsburgh, where she inspired countless students with her kindness, passion, and unwavering commitment to education.
Catherine was not only a remarkable teacher but also a loving sister and aunt. She is survived by her sister Susan(Ken) Mack, her brothers Joe (Wendy), Will, and Gene (Susan) Ratay, and her numerous beloved nephews and nieces: Kyle, Cory, Calvin, Aidan, Emma, Alex, Lauren, Gene, Lexi, and Kaylee. Catherine held a special place in her heart for her family, relishing every moment spent with her nieces and nephews and celebrating the joys of family life.
In addition to her dedication to teaching, Catherine was a passionate fan of WWE and found great joy in fishing trips to Canada. She cherished her love for music, which enriched her life and brought happiness to those around her. Catherine also served her community with honor as a Whitaker councilman, exemplifying her commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those she served.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home 301 Curry Hollow Rd. Pittsburgh Pa 15236 on December 5, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Blessing service will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel on December 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the compassionate spirit of Catherine Anna Ratay.
Catherine's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family, friends, and students will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered for the profound impact she made on so many lives.
