Catherine T. Kasyan's Obituary
On May 17, 2018, Catherine Kasyan passed away at Jefferson Hospital in Clairton after a long illness, surrounded by her sons, their fiancé’s and grandchildren. She attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in West Mifflin. She was a dedicated mother and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and her nephew’s children.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Stephen Kakos and Ann Andresio Kakos. Catherine leaves her two sons, Joseph Kasyan and his fiancé Amy and Timothy Kasyan and his fiancé Diane; also two grandchildren, Donald Kasyan and his fiancé Emily and Danielle Kasyan Meixner and her husband Carl Meixner. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law who live in Delaware, Mary Lou Svienty and husband Thomas Svienty; and JoAnn Coons. Also a niece, Karen Shemwell and husband Charlie and their five children. Also a nephew, Robert Furlong and his wife Ann Hicks and their two children.
Catherine worked several jobs after graduating from St. Peter’s High School in 1955. She was best known for owning and managing the High View Dairy in Dravosburg for a number of years until 1978. There she operated a convenience store and lunch counter, providing home cooked meals for many customers, including employees from the Bettis Plant nearby.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Jefferson Hospital for their compassionate care.
The viewing will be on Sunday, May 20, from 2:00 to 8:00 at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh PA 15236. A Blessing Service will follow at 8:00 in the funeral home's chapel. Condolences may be left at www.jeffersonmemorial.biz.
