Carolyn L. Zinsser (Coo)'s Obituary
The world lost a powerful force on April 29, 2016 with the passing of Carolyn Louise Zinsser at the age of 68. Daughter of Herbert (Bud) and Louise Coo, her sweeping determination and dry sense of humor will continue to live within the lives of those who knew and loved her. A nurse anesthetist at Jefferson Memorial for over 40 years and wife to Charles (Charlie) for 26 years, her innumerable, varied talents and interests were enough to fill multiple lifetimes. She bowled with the Dutch Club every Tuesday, sewed her sister’s wedding dress, hand-stitched Santa stockings for her nephews, participated in equestrian dressage and performed conformation and barn hunting in various dog shows, painted breath-taking watercolor landscapes, and worked actively with Alaskan Klee Kai Association of America (AKKAOA), serving over 6 years as Vice President to the Breed Club. Born, raised, and retired in Pleasant Hills, PA, she loved traveling, purposefully getting lost with Charlie on spur of the moment road trips. In her retirement, she adored Carnival cruises. She loved her animals like children, especially her “heart” dog Ziva. She leaves behind her Hanoverian horses Belle and Alex, Klee Kai dogs Kiski and Merlin, and is survived by sister and brother-in-law Deborah and James Hope, and nephews Michael and John Hope. Funeral services will held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh, on May 14, at 5pm. Donations can be made to AKKAOA. An additional service will be held on a selected Carnival cruise; see Linda for details.
