Carol M. Hood's Obituary
Carol Hood, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023. Born on August 22, 1938, in Homestead, PA, to Frank and Virginia Bertsche, Carol lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion to her family and community.
Carol was a woman of many talents and interests, but her greatest passion was her family. She was the loving wife of Don Hood, to whom she was married since 1956. Their enduring love story was an inspiration to all who knew them. Carol was also the cherished mother of Debbie (Bill) Drescher, Dawn (Bill) Robertson, and Scott (Lynn Loreti) Hood. Her love for her children was evident in every aspect of her life, and she took great pride in their accomplishments.
As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Carol's love extended to her grandchildren, Missy Drescher, Quinn Hood, Sami Hood, and Maura Robertson, and her great-granddaughter, Kinley Hood. She delighted in their achievements and was always there to offer her support and encouragement. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire them.
Carol's dedication to service was evident in her professional life as well. She worked for several years with Macy's Department Store, where she was known for her hard work, dedication, and friendly demeanor.
Carol was deeply involved in her community. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, sharing her faith and wisdom with the younger generation. She also assisted in special events like church bazaars and card clubs with the Baldwin United Methodist Church. Her altruism constantly guided her to prioritize the needs of others, and she was known for her kindness and generosity.
Carol's love extended beyond her family and church community. She had a wide circle of friends who appreciated her warm and welcoming nature. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a comforting word, or share a laugh. Her love of family and friends was a testament to her caring and compassionate spirit.
In remembering Carol, we celebrate a life well-lived. Her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her work, and her commitment to serving her community are an inspiration to us all. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 1pm in the Chapel of Baldwin United Methodist Church at 5001 Baptist Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
