Carol M. Burke's Obituary
Carol M. Burke, aged 77, passed away on November 4, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and joy. Born on December 10, 1946, in Pittsburgh, PA, Carol was the daughter of John and Virginia Emes.
Carol was a 1964 graduate of South Hills High School, where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. After over four decades as a committed server at Kaufmann's Department Store Carol retired to spend time with her family.
Carol was the cherished wife of the late Edmund Burke, whose memory she held close to her heart. She is survived by her devoted brother, Jack (Julie) Emes; brother-in-law, David (Jean) Burke; and her adored nieces and nephews, Alexandra (PK) Emes, Adam Emes, Brianne Paranzino, Nick Paranzino, Erin (Mark) Henderson, and Chris (Katie) Burke who will miss her deeply. Carol also loved her two "boys," Turner and Rocket, her feline companions who brought her immense joy and comfort.
Carol was predeceased by husband, Ed earlier this year, her loving parents, John and Virginia Emes, and her sister, Alice Emes. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is reunited with them in peace.
Those who knew Carol will remember her for her passion for the simple pleasures in life. Carol shared a love of oldies with her husband Ed. She enjoyed reading mystery novels and on occasion trying her luck at the casino slot machines, which brought her excitement and laughter.
Above all, Carol's greatest joy was spending time with her family. Whether it was a quiet evening at home or a lively family gathering, she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, November 10th from 2-6 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 11th at 10:30 A.M. in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
