Brenda Dornin's Obituary
Brenda Dornin, a cherished soul known for her dedication to family, friends, and public safety, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 13, 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born on March 4, 1973, in Washington, PA, Brenda's life was a perfect example of what it means to love, to serve, and to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
Brenda was a 1991 graduate of Springfield Local High School in New Middletown, Ohio. Her passion for helping others led her to a commendable career spanning over 25 years in public safety. She served with distinction at South East Regional EMS and was a past member of the Bentleyville Fire Department. Her commitment to community extended to her volunteer work at West Mifflin #3 VFC, where she was a respected and valued member.
Her love story with her spouse, Sean Dornin, was one filled with adventure and mutual passions. Together, they shared a love for the open road, often seen riding motorcycles. Brenda's adventurous spirit also shone through her enthusiasm for classic cars and car cruises. Not just a spectator, she once helped Sean replace the motor in their car, demonstrating her willingness to dive into challenges hands-on.
Brenda was a culinary delight to her family and friends, famous for her cabbage and noodles and chicken noodle soup. Her homemade noodles were the stuff of family legend, and no gathering was complete without Brenda's strawberry pretzel salad.
Family was the cornerstone of Brenda's life. She is survived by her loving spouse, Sean Dornin; her devoted daughter, Kaitlyn Wright (John Pascoe); her step-son, Nick Dornin; her mother, Rita Welsh; her siblings, Shauna (Dave) Byers, Gary (Angela) McCracken and Joshua McCracken; mother-in-law, Carol Dornin; and her sister-in-law, Nichole (Butch) Hagan; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Her playful nature lives on in her faithful canine companions, Thor and Apollo; as well as her beloved grand dogs, Nala and Gemma.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gary McCracken; her father-in-law, Sam Dornin; brother-in-law, Joseph Pupin, Sr.; and her bearded dragon, Pheonix.
Brenda's generosity knew no bounds. She was the person who would be there for anyone in need, regardless of the time or effort required. Her support extended beyond her immediate family, as she cheered on her nephews at hockey games.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, September 18th from 2-4 & 6-8 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A fire & EMS service will be held at 7 P.M.
