Betty Lou Miller's Obituary
Betty Lou (Wetherow) Miller, a lifelong resident of the Mt. Washington area of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021 at the age of 97.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years W.J (Jack) Miller, who remained the love of her life until the very end. Betty Lou was a faithful and dedicated Methodist who devoted her life to God, the Hilltop United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh's Allentown, and the Jumonville Methodist training center. She will be greatly missed by her many faithful friends at church. Always a leader, Betty Lou attended area Methodist conferences, and was a former board member of her local senior citizens center, where she and Jack volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels for many years. In 1956, against her husband's wishes, Betty Lou took a part time job at the Joseph Horne's department to earn extra Christmas money. She stayed for 30 years, retiring as a member of the adjusting department where she met and maintained contact with many friends. She loved the Pirates, the Steelers, Penn State, Eat N Park, and Kennywood. A Pittsburgher through and through, and a proud American.
Betty Lou is survived by her daughter Judy Hurst; son Dale Miller (Debbie), of Ambler, PA; grandsons James Hurst and Jeffrey Miller (Katie) of Philadelphia, PA; great grandchildren Cora, Helena, and Teddy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who lover her very much.
As per her wishes, there will be no service or visitation, and Betty Lou will be cremated and interred next to her beloved husband Jack at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in Pleasant Hills, PA.
Friends are welcome and encouraged to donate in her memory to Hilltop United Methodist. Church.
