Bert's Obituary
Seibert A. 'Bert' Drummond, Jr., aged 92, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 31, 1931, in the same city that he would call home for his entire life, Bert was a cherished member of the community and a beacon of warmth to all who knew him.
Bert proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried into his civilian life. His dedication to service was a thread that ran through every aspect of his being, touching the lives of those around him in profound ways.
After his military service, Bert returned to Pittsburgh, where he built a life rich in love and accomplishment. He was a devoted husband, a role model to his children, and a doting grandfather and great-grandfather. Bert's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and integrity. He is survived by his sons, Keith and his wife Sally, Kenneth and his wife Claire; daughters, Vicki and her husband Keith, Patti, and Diane and her husband Tom. His grandchildren, Jason, Christopher, Kenneth Jr., Michael, Kerri, Kimberly, and Louis, as well as his thirteen great-grandchildren, will carry forward the memories of their beloved patriarch. He was predeceased by his parents, Seibert Sr. and Anna Drummond, as well as his wives Portia and Francesca.
Bert's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was an avid golfer, finding joy and friendship on the greens. His love for Pittsburgh sports was unwavering, with a particular fondness for the Penguins and the Pirates. Bert was also a skilled craftsman, creating beautiful woodwork ranging from intricate crafts to sturdy cabinets. His hands were rarely still, as evidenced by the beautiful braided rugs that graced his home.
Above all, Bert was known as a great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His presence was a source of stability and love, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bert Drummond, Jr. lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his family. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. Bert will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his journey.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 6 pm - 8 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 21 at 12 noon in the funeral home's chapel.
