Barbara L. Shock's Obituary
Barbara “Bobbie” Shock, age 93, longtime resident of Castle Shannon, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, August 30, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Bobbie was born on March 4, 1931, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Daniel and Magdaline Flanagan.
Bobbie is the loving mother of Diane S. (Jim) Johnson, Judith A. (Ken) Wolfe, John B. (Val) Shock, Patricia Bosko, Pamela Decker (Jerry Norris), and Mark V. (Angel) Shock. Bobbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, C.B. “Bill” Shock, her daughter, Deborah Abel and her son, Randy W. Shock. She is survived by 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, all whom she adored.
Bobbie grew up in Carrick, where she attended local schools. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Kane Hospital, but her life’s dedication was being a devoted and caring mother to her eight children. Bobbie was very active in her community and dedicated over 6 decades to community service work in the Boro of Castle Shannon. Bobbie was also a member of the Castle Shannon Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 62 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Saint Paul of the Cross Parish, St. Anne Church, 400 Hoodridge Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15234. Burial will follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
