August "Auggie" Payne's Obituary
August J. Payne, age 80, of Elizabeth, PA, formerly of Baldwin, PA; beloved husband of Mary Lee Payne, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Auggie was born on March 22, 1945, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth "Isabella" Payne. He grew up in Rankin, attending St. Anslen Catholic School and later graduated from Robert Morris for Business Management. Auggie worked hard and quickly earned a Financial Officer title before retiring from PNC Bank's General Accounting Funds Control Department. Proud of his Italian heritage, he was a member of the ISDA Primavera Lodge #149 in Swissvale.
Auggie spent summers relaxing and having fun with his camp family at the Buttercup Woodlands Family Campground in Butler. Auggie was an avid Steelers fan, having season tickets and attending the games at Three Rivers Stadium. Everyone knew not to bother him while he was watching the game. Whether it was calling right at an important play, stepping in front of the TV, or turning off the electric- if you were one of those pranksters- take a moment to remember him and those times.
More than anything, Auggie cherished his family. His wife, Mary Lee Payne and his children Lisa (Jason) English, Michael (Gabriel) Payne, Mary Kay Matlos (Marshall Black), Aleshia Faiello (Chris Molinaro) and Urban Bianchi. He was proud of his grandchildren, Rebecca Matlos, Angelia (Todd) Pistorius, Stefano Faiello (Jessica Olischar), Annabella Faiello (Chase Richel) and Carmella Faiello, and his great-grandsons Cedar, Mantis and Eden Pistorius.
Auggie is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Judy Payne, sister and brother-in-law Toni and Jack Naser, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
In honor of Auggie's favorite colors and sports team, please feel free to wear Steelers clothing or black and gold to the viewing.
