August "Öcsi" Mitus' Obituary
On November 20, 2016, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Knoxville, age 89. He was born and raised in what was former Hungary, but became a displaced person of Europe and Germany following World War II. Prior to coming to America at the age of 25 in 1951, he worked at the American PX and had the honor of meeting and speaking with General Eisenhower, General Bradley, and General Patton, which he remembered proudly.
In the US, he continued his career as a tailor, before working his way up to Store Manager at A&P Supermarkets. He loved gardening, his big cars, and spending his weekends at the family cottage in Seven Springs. He was a very giving person throughout his life and always helped others before himself. His biting wit will be greatly missed.
