August W. "Bill" Arnold's Obituary
August W. "Bill" Arnold, age 80, of Eighty Four, PA and formerly of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Bill was born on August 26, 1943, in Pittsburgh, the loving son of the late August W. and Emily M. (Hoover) Arnold.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Aurelija Arnold, her brother Eligijus and his family, and her children Adomas and Ieva and their families; his loving daughter, Aimee Sue Spencer Arnold and her mother, Rose Ann Zimmerman; his grandchildren, whom he adored, Kaleb Spencer Arnold and Averi Rose Arnold-Binikos; and his sister, Marlene Arnold. He also leaves his cousins, Bud and Patricia "Pat" Spencer and his best friend, Richard "Dick" and Barbara Skrinjar.
Bill was an animal lover and is also survived by his furry companions, Spooky and Cheeky.
He grew up on the South Side, where he attended local schools. Following his graduation from South Side High School, Bill attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received his bachelors in civil engineering. He enjoyed a long career from graduation through his retirement as a civil engineer for PennDot.
Bill was an avid gun and coin collector, and enjoyed visiting the shooting range. He never missed the opportunity to cheer the Steeler's on during their games. When Bill was able to he enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. As a devote Republican, he was very involved in politics. In his younger years, Bill was very active in participating on his church's softball league, and later in his life he enjoyed bowling.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm and Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at the funeral home on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
