Arthur J. Gob's Obituary
Arthur J. Gob (aka. “Big A”, “Artie”, “Big Guy”, & “Nonno”) 79, died Monday, May 8, 2017. He was born November 7, 1937, in Pittsburgh, the youngest of four children, to the late Jerry and Ida (Flaim) Gob. A first generation Italian-American, he grew up in Mt. Oliver & Whitehall. After marrying Dawn (Lewis) in 1963, he resided in Bethel Park for over 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Gob and sister, Jenny Gob Fallert. In addition to his wife, left to cherish his memory are his sister Gloria Gob Bunting; sons, Scott (Courtney) and Craig; granddaughters, Olivia Gob, Alexandria Gob and Sophia Gob. The first in his family to attend college, Art was a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, played professional football for the Washington Redskins and the Los Angeles Chargers, and was an inductee into the Western Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. A lover of all sports, playing golf became his passion later in life, along with spending time with family and friends. As per Art’s wishes there are will be no visitation, however a memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, Artie would ask you to turn off your cell phone and sit and talk with a loved one.
