Angelo Anthony Cardamone's Obituary
Angelo Anthony Cardamone, 88, of Castle Shannon (formerly of Mt. Lebanon) passed away peacefully Saturday, January 29, 2022 at home. Angelo was born July 12, 1933 in Pittsburgh to the late Vincenzo and Maria Antonetta Sergi Cardamone. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony Cardamone (Beulah), Frank Cardamone (Annie), John Cardamone (Rickie), Attilio Cardamone (Anne), and sisters, Victoria Aiose (Lou), and Connie Pope (Charles).
He is survived by Nancy Lee Cardamone, his beloved wife of 53 years, their two daughters, Gina Stoehr (Bernie) and Anita Hancox (Michael), sister Yolanda Diulus (d. Danny), and brothers Tom Cardamone (d. Margie), and Joe Cardamone (Rita). He was the proud Papa of 3 grandchildren, Emily, Isabelle, and Angelo, in addition to many loving nieces and nephews.
Angelo spent much of his youth in Brookline, where he had many friends with whom he kept in touch until his passing. He graduated from South Hills High School in 1951, and proudly served as a Cpl. in the Army from 1953 to 1955 in field radio repair. Angelo received advanced training in electronics. Upon completion of his military service, Angelo worked for Mercy Hospital as an electrician for 32 years. In his retirement, Angelo remained active in the South Hills High School Alumni Association and the Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree Knight).
Angelo will be remembered as a deeply loyal friend and a loving husband and father with a generous and joyful spirit. His greatest joy was being surrounded by friends and family with good food and his homemade wine on the table. He especially enjoyed gatherings as little as coffee with his wife or as big as picnics in South Park and Christmas Eve celebrations. With his contagious laugh and smile and welcoming and gentle demeanor, Angelo was loved by everyone who came in contact with him throughout his life, including his colleagues at Mercy Hospital, his friends of many decades, his many doctors and caregivers, and his friends at the Trolley Barn Eatery.
