Alvin Akers' Obituary
Alvin Ashby Akers, age 80 of Lawrence, formerly of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by family on July 12, 2022.
Beloved husband of 36 years to Darlene Akers; father of Jennifer and Mike Bubb, Kristin and John McKinney, Patrick and Laura Kelley and Michael and Karen Kelley; grandfather of Matthew, Ryan and Adam McKinney, Lily and Graham Bubb, Patrick, Andrew and Christopher Kelley and Shaylyn Kelley; brother of Ginny and Scotty Cairns, the late Don and Betty Breneman, and the late Glenn F. and Maryann Crawford; uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry T. and Marian Akers.
Al was a graduate of Virginia Tech. He was an accountant for Duquesne Light for 32 years, a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a Treasurer, Elder and Choir member. He loved the Lord, his family, music, airplanes and his country.
Al was the kindest person and you couldn't find anybody who didn't love him.
Visitation will be held 3-7 PM Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2022 in the Southminster Sanctuary, 799 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228.
Inurnment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Al's name may be made to Parkinson's Foundation of Western PA, 575 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue, PA 15202.
