Alice Ann Novosel's Obituary
On April 5, 2017, Alice Ann Novosel, 67, of Munhall, passed away surrounded by her loving family. Alice was a very special person whose caring nature was as big as her smile. She always did the little things that would brighten someone’s day or make people feel better about themselves. Alice and her daughter Ellen had a very special relationship, in which they shared their love and their lives, as well as their love of the arts. Alice taught art for 35 years in the Steel Valley School District inspiring many students in all areas of their lives. One former student wrote, “She was truly an amazing woman/friend/teacher to me.” Her family looked on her as their “rock”, helping and inspiring each of them in many different ways. Later in life, Alice and Tony found true love, married in Belfast, and were “joined at the hip” living a lifetime together in the past 8 years, with Alice becoming the “heart and soul of Tony.” They combined their love of each other with travel, mainly to Belfast, where she became a much beloved figure prompting one Belfast friend to write, “Such sad news to wake up to here in Belfast. Our city loved her, the people loved her.” Alice also devoted many years volunteering with the Girl Scouts and at St. Vincent de Paul in Monongahela where she was extremely popular. She was also totally committed to the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society and their great work. Her beloved Husband, Tony Novosel; Daughter, Ellen (James) Richey; Mother, Anne (Michael) Mulheran; Siblings, John (Kathy) Mulheran; Kathleen (Ron) King, Clare (Gary) Torso; Michael Mulheran and Susan (Don) Gruber; and, nieces and nephews survive her and will all miss her greatly. Her two cats, her beloved “boys,” Puga and Felix, also survive her. Her Father, Michael Mulheran preceded her in death. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2017, 12 - 3 pm at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm in the funeral home following the visitation. Since Alice loved cats and volunteering, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions be made to either the Western PA Humane Society or St. Vincent de Paul in Monongahela.
